This charming Dakota County community claims a location that allows it to utilize all of the cultural and business resources of the Twin Cities community. West St. Paul is only 10 miles from the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport, and only two miles from the St. Paul Regional Airport. This spot along the west bank of the Mississippi River provides its 19,000 residents with easy access to major routes, and also provides a strong commercial tax base from many local employers, includingTarget, Southview Acres Health Care, Walmart, Tapemark, Darts, Cub Foods, K Mart, Menards, Rainbow Foods, Southview Country Club, RTC Plastics, and many others. If you own a home in West St. Paul, there is a good chance that you work there, too. The main industrial area lies in the Southeastern part of the community. The city is 95% developed, which means there is some limited opportunity for business and residential development. West St. Paul is known for its 2.5 mile retail strip along Robert Street. The residents benefit from the lush scenery, beautiful parks, and close proximity to dozens of lakes and parks, as well as entertainment, cultural centers, and educational opportunities.

The Quality Housing Program is a four-pronged approach consisting of home improvement and fix-up loans, a housing replacement program, an exterior housing grant program, and rigorous code enforcement. The result has been an aesthetic improvement in housing stock and increased West St. Paul real estate valuation.

A cursory review of the Northstar Regional West St. Paul MLS shows a variety of housing opportunities ranging from smaller condos and starter homes to old and stately two stories or 1.5 story tudors, and on up to large ranch style homes priced in the $400’s. Average asking prices are about $212,000, and an average square foot of finished property is going for a very affordable $134.00. Currently there are about three dozen townhomes or condos for sale, including single level units and condo conversions.
