This is a big lake. Coming it at a whopping 2427 acres, it is also the recreational lake of choice for water skiing, jet skiing, wind surfing, and sailing. About half of the lake is classified as littoral (less than 15 ft deep,) and White Bear Lake is 83 feet at its deepest. Secchi disc readings indicate a depth of 12.9 feet, which is especially good for a metro area lake. Eurasian milfoil has been reported here, but the fish don’t seem to mind; in fact the milfoil seems to favor foraging conditions for a large muskie population. Some monster-sized 50 inchers are occasionally pulled out of this lake. Own a home on White Bear Lake, and you will have some excellent fishing from your own back yard.
There is not very much turnover on this lake, so you will need to act decisively if you find a lakeshore property that you like. (You will probably like all of them.) At the time of this post, according to the Northstar Regional White Bear Lake MLS statistics, there are only 12 dozen lakeshore properties available for purchase, going for an average asking price of $1,228,808.
